Relax and Wax

Updated: May 21, 2019

So you got your very first Brazilian Wax or maybe it is one wax of many. What now? What should you do with your new found woman-hood. We've compiled a list of Do's, Don'ts and Pre/Post care tips to keep you informed on how to care for your skin after waxing.

Pre-Wax:

  • It is suggested to GENTLY exfoliate 24-48 hours prior to your waxing session. This removes dead skin from the area making it easier for the wax to attach to your hair, as well as lessening the chance of ingrown hairs.

  • Take (2) Ibuprofen about 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment. This will make for a comfortable waxing experience. It won't diminish the discomfort entirely but it will make less intense, therefore allowing you to relax during your wax.

  • Wear comfortable clothing. This is not always possible as you may be coming from work, school or the like. That's ok! For times when your lounging at home, throw on some sweat pants. This allows for easy dressing and undressing making your appointment time quicker and allowing to get back to your regularly scheduled program.

Post-Wax:

  • After your appointment be sure to exfoliate 24-48 hours after, and every 3-4 days after that. This again will cut down on the chance of developing in-grown hairs and keep your skin feeling smooth.

  • Remember breakouts after your wax appointment are normal and at times to be expected. You can combat these with an anti-acne soap or wipe - twice a day until gone. DO NOT pop them! Allow them to dissipate on their own.

Do's and Don'ts:

DON'T: Wear tight clothing such as leggings, string thongs, or bikini's (for Brazilian/ Bikini).

DO: Wear cotton underwear to allow the area to breathe.

DON'T: Have sexual intercourse immediately after your wax.

DO: Wait at least 24-hours, as the skin is sensitive and delicate during the first 48-hours after your appointment.

DON'T: Apply scented soaps, perfume, or lotions to the waxed area.

DO: Use sensitive soap such as "DOVE" or something similar to cleanse the area to avoid irritation.

DON'T: Use harsh / extremely abrasive substances on the waxed area.

DO: Use a gentle exfoliate or serum to exfoliate the area every 3-4 days.

DON'T: Look up advice on how to care for your skin after a wax session on the internet - as some information may out-dated or inaccurate and can cause confusion.

DO: Contact your esthetician via text: (614) 594-3752 or email: info@lxdayspa.com if you have any questions or concerns.
